2. Write a Book Trailer

Hey future Steven Spielberg, can you write and create a trailer for your favorite book?  Grab a computer, a video camera and some friends. Let’s make a Movie Trailer

3. News Reports

Call all future new anchors! News is happening all around you, the newscasters are nowhere to be found.  It’s up to you to gather the news and report it to the world! Grab a pencil, some paper, and a video camera, the world can not wait!

4. Emoji Dice or Story Cubes

Get Story Cubes or Emoji dice.  Have kids roll the dice and write about what they see.  The stories they develop can be very interesting.

5. Thank you Notes!

Let’s get going with random acts of kindness! Write some thank you notes to service men or women.  How about teachers, parents, or custodians.

8. Scoot writing activities for kids

​Each child starts by writing a few sentences about whatever they want.  The allow a set amount of time, usually 1-2 minutes. When time is up the kids will move from their seat to the seat next to them, read what was written and continue the story. If time is up in the middle of the sentence it is then up to the new writer to finish it.  When everyone has added to every story, read them out loud!

9. Persuasive writing

Bring up a debate, some easy ones are dogs vs cats, or hot dogs vs hamburgers, etc.  Have kids engage in a written debate about something they feel passionate about. Give them a set amount of time.  When time is up challenge them to read there persuasive writing to the group. Which side will prevail?

10. Writing Activities for Kids; What if..

I have used this as a weekly challenge.  I would write on the whiteboard, What if…(cows ran the world…what is doctors wore pink…what is your house was made of legos…etc)  Have the kids submit a funny or insightful response and have the group vote on the best one. 11. Make a Difference

​Write a letter to politicians or people in power.  Find something you’re passionate about and write about it.  Do you want to see change in the world? Start by getting your message out!

​Many kids have dreams for the future. Have them write down what they want to accomplish in their lives. Create a list, what do you want to do in your life? Add illustrations, make it yours!
