My name is Janelle. I am an After School Director.  I received a degree in Sociology with an emphasis in health and family studies from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. After graduation I accepted my first job at an after-school program in my community. From then on I fell in love with the job and grew in my field.  I worked as an after school assistant, a summer camp specialist, a school age resource manager and a site supervisor before I got my big break as the director of the Boys and Girls Club in Madison Wisconsin. I later expanded my resume by returning to my roots and taking a position at a very large program in a very small town.  Over the years I have continued my education by taking classes through the University of Wisconsin system. Most recently, in the spring of 2018 I completed a Child Care Administrative Credential through the University of Wisconsin – Platteville. In addition to my continued education, I have presented at organizational events and annual conferences in my state.

In 2018 I started That After School Life to bring together school age professionals. I established this site to be the authority resource for all things After School. I provide quality well-written and researched articles, program plans, and tips for creating and maintain a well-rounded school age childcare program.

A little about my personal life. I am a married mother to one smiley happy baby girl, born in August 2019. In the short time since her birth she has brought so much light into my life. My daughter is my motivation to succeed and the reason I want to provide you with the best resource for all things after school.
