Get kids outdoors and playing as they learn how to make a bubble snake.   Turn ordinary dish soap into a foot long bubble snake!

Supplies

  • A sturdy old plastic bottle
  • Scissors
  • A cloth or rag
  • Rubber band
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Dish soap
  • Water

How to Prepare a bubble Snake

To start, cut the bottom off the bottom of the bottle. If you are working with young children, or you are working with a really hard bottle (like a Gatorade bottle) you may want to do this step for the kids.

Next take a piece of cloth and place it around the hole in the bottom of the bottle. Hold the cloth in place by putting a rubber band around the outside of the cloth and the bottle. Wrap the rubber band tightly so no air will escape out the sides of the cloth.

To make the bubble snack solution mix together some dish soap and a small amount of water in a bowl or small dish. Stir the bubbles and water together and allow it to sit for a few minutes before use.

How to Use a Bubble Snake

To make a bubble snake, dip the cloth covered bottom of the bottle into the bubble solution. Put the other end of the bottle to your mouth and blow.  Watch as a bubble snake emerges out the other end! If you want to make your snake colored, add a few drops of food coloring to the cloth on the bottom of the bottle.
