One day while looking through an Ispy book with a group of kids I had an idea, an idea to create our own Ispy book. I couldn’t believe I had not thought of this before. The kids in my after-school program love Ispy games and hidden object worksheets! When I shared this idea with the kids, they loved it.
To get started select an area to hide some objects. Some places we found to be good places for the hidden object photo include
- A bucket of crayons
- A gym/ball cabinet
- The Fridge
- Junk Drawer
- Book Shelf
- Lego Bin
Once you have a location, gather supplies to hide in the photo. Then make a list of the objects you are hiding so you do not forget. Some items we hid included:
- Crayons
- markers
- paperclips
- pompoms
- small toys
- markers
- pencil
- calculator
- basically any object you have sitting around
Then hide the objects in the hidden object photo location. Next take a picture, making sure that all the hidden objects are visible in the photo. You can then print to photo or send them in for developing. Then put the photo together to create your own Ispy book. Don’t forget to include the list of items you for people to find in each picture!
If you enjoy making an Ispy book try creating a spot the difference game! Spot the difference is similar to Ispy books with an extra step. Take this activity to the next level by making your own spot the difference game.
Tip: Paste the photo into a word document and add a text box that lists the items to find. When you have a few different pages print them off and laminate them. Kids will love seeing their Ispy ideas come to life and challenging others to find all the hidden objects.
