This active group game pits two kids against each other as they try to steal the bacon without being tagged. Get kids thinking strategically as they try and retrieve the bacon for their team.
Game Supplies
- 1 football or small ball that is easy to pick up
- Playing area with four cones
Steal the Bacon Setup
Place four cones into a rectangle in the playing area. Place the ball in the center of the rectangle. Slip the group into two teams and have them line up side by side with their teammates on the long side of the rectangle. Have the other team lineup side by side across from them.
Have each player walk towards the center and shake hands with the person across from them. The person they are across from is now there opponent. Number off each pair of children starting with 1 and going up. Have children return to the line.
How to Play Steal the Bacon
Explain that you will call out a number, the two people who have that number will race to the center try to grab the ball and bring it back across the line. The other player will try and tag the player with the ball before they cross the line. If the player is tagged the ball is returned to the line and the teacher will announce another number. If the player successfully grabs the ball and makes its across the line without being tagged, that team get 1 point.
When the game is over the team with the most points wins.
