Objective of Dice and Card Game

Be the first player to get rid of all your cards

How to Play Dice and Card Game

Players will take turns rolling two die.  When a player rolls, lets say they get a 2 and a 4 which equals 6.  If that player has a card numbered 6 they remove it and place it in the center of the playing area. This card is now out of play. The roller then gets to roll again.  The player continues to roll and remove cards until they roll a number they do not have.

When a player rolls a number they do not have, the number goes to the person to their left. The player to the left does not re-roll the die, they are playing on the roll of the person to their right.   If the player to the left has a card that matches the number, they put it in the middle and roll. This player rolls until they get a number that does not match one of their cards.

For example, if a player rolls a 6, and that player does not have a card numbered 6, play goes to the player on the left.  If the player to the left has a 6, they place the card in the center and then roll the die. This player continues until they get a number they can not match.

If a player rolls a number and they do not have a corresponding card, the number goes to the person to their left, if that person does not have a corresponding card it continues around the circle until someone can play. If no one can play the original roller passes the die to the left.  The player to the left can roll and play.

The game is over when one player has no cards remaining.

Special Situations

Doubles – If a player rolls doubles they can use the total of the two numbers, or to remove two matching numbers.  For example, if a player rolls a “4” and a “4” and they have two number 4 cards they can remove the two cards. They can also use the 2 “4s” as an 8.

7’s – If a player rolls a 7 they forfeit their turn and pass the die to the player to their left.

We played this with my after school kiddos yesterday and a question came up regarding how to get rid of Aces? If you roll double 1’s then you could get rid of two Aces, but how would you get rid of only one Ace?

We modified the game and just removed all of the Aces too, but we weren’t sure if we were missing something. Thanks!

Yes! Remove the Aces. So sorry I left that out. Thank you for bring this to my attention, I fixed it in the post so others do not run into the same problem. I appreciate the comment to let me know!

So glad you asked! To clarify, the J is worth 11 and the Q is worth 12.
